OVERVIEW OF SERVICES

All of our physicians and nurse practitioners can call in medication to your pharmacy in accordance with state laws and when medically appropriate. We cannot refill controlled medications (narcotic pain medications, benzodiazepines, etc.). Please contact your primary care provider for these refills.

At the end of your virtual visit, you will have the chance to rate your provider on a scale of one to five. Ratings are tracked and reviewed regularly to ensure quality care. The ratings listed on this site reflect the average for each provider.

Yes. FiveMedicine accepts patients of all ages. Parents/guardians must log in with their own account and select a provider. You will then be prompted to add your child's information. Your child will now be listed as a "minor dependent" on your account.

FiveMedicine offers real-time health care visits to treat your minor medical concerns. It's fast, easy to use, convenient and flexible. Visit with one of our nurse practitioners or doctors when you want, wherever you have internet access.

FiveMedicine is available to those located in Maryalnd, Virgina, Washington DC who have access to a personal computer, laptop, tablet or smartphone. We welcome patients without insurance.

FiveMedicine is a telehealth platform designed to make health care convenient. One of our board-certified providers meets with you face-to-face through secure video technology (live) using your smartphone, tablet or computer. Providers can diagnose and treat minor medical concerns, and prescribe medication or lab work, as needed.

COST, BILLING & INSURANCE

Currently, FiveMedicine only takes credit card payments. We are working on being able to accept payment through insurance providers by the end of January 2020 we will be accepting insurances.

A virtual visit is $49, payable at the time of visit via credit card. This cost does not include the cost of any medications, follow-up lab work or follow-up visits if deemed applicable. If we determine that a virtual visit is not appropriate for your condition, you will not be charged for your visit. We will help you locate a more appropriate place to receive care (e.g., urgent care, emergency care).

TECHNICAL REQUIREMENTS

To use FiveMedicine from your mobile device, ensure it meets the requirements below: 1. FiveMedicine app installed 2. Your device must have a front-facing camera in order to support two-way video visits 3. Apple users: a. Operating System - iOS (v7.0 or later required) b. Devices c. iPhone 4S or later d. iPad 2 or later, iPad Mini, or iPad Air e. iPod Touch 5th generation 4. Android users: a. Operating System - Android (Ice Cream Sandwich v4.0.0 or above) b. Devices c. Android Phone d. Android Tablet e. Not supported: HTC myTouch, and the PantechP9070 Other devices (e.g., Blackberry, Windows) are not supported at this time. For the best experience when having a virtual visit from your mobile device, a strong wi-fi connection is recommended. (A 3g/4g connection might be adequate if wi-fi connection is weak or not available).

Since virtual visits require video and audio, you must have a webcam and microphone installed. Before your visit, you will have the opportunity to test your internet connection, video, webcam, microphone and speaker capabilities using the built-in System Check. 1. If using an external webcam and microphone: a. Ensure that your webcam is plugged in and all accompanying software is installed.Plug your microphone into the appropriate port on your computer and ensure that it is enabled in the control panel of your operating system. For the best experience when using FiveMedicine. on the web, high-speed broadband internet access (e.g., cable, DSL) is recommended. A minimum bandwidth of 1 Mb/s upload/download is required. However, bandwidth of 3 Mb/s is recommended for optimal experience. For the best video quality, connect via a “wired” internet connection. You will also need to ensure that both JavaScript and Cookies are enabled in your browser settings. 2. Supported Browsers a. Google Chrome (latest version recommended; one version prior supported) b. Mozilla Firefox (latest version recommended; one version prior supported) c. Microsoft Internet Explorer (PC ONLY: minimum v9.0; maximum v11) 3. Supported Operating Systems a. Windows: 7, 8, and 10 b. Mac: OS X 10.6 “Snow Leopard” or later (Intel CPUs only) c. NOTE: Linux OS (including Chromebook devices) are not supported 4. Hardware/Software Requirements a. Adobe Flash Plug-In v10.1 or greater installed b. Firefox users must have the latest version of Flash installed c. Adobe Reader 7 or greater installed d. USB or built-in webcam e. Audio (to minimize feedback use headphones, or a headset with built-in microphone)

BEFORE & DURING THE APPOINTMENT

We feel it is of utmost importance to maintain patient privacy and keep information secure. Our ability to keep your visit and personal information secure is something that sets our service apart from other service providers. When accessing care via the web or a mobile device, each virtual visit uses secure technology, encrypting all communication over the internet. In addition, FiveMedicine is compliant with all HIPAA regulations. For more information, see our Notice of Privacy Practices.

All of our providers are are licensed and board-certified providers. Many also work in local clinics where they routinely deliver compassionate care.

FiveMedicine is designed for on-demand care and appointments. After you register and log in, the providers who are available for an on-demand visit will appear on your screen. When, you log in, a provider will be notified. If there aren't providers available, you'll be placed in a "waiting room" and be informed of your approximate wait time. At this point, you can request that a text or email. be sent to you once a provider is available.

Yes, you do need to create an account before you can speak to a provider, but the account creation process is simple and takes just a few moments. We recommend you set up your account now so it’s ready when you need it. Once your account is created, you can use the mobile app or website using the same username and password

AFTER THE APPOINTMENT

Yes, but only when you choose to share this information. You will be asked if you want a copy of yourvisit summary to be shared with your primary care provider, including non-FiveMedicine providers. If you choose to share your visit summary, we will fax or electronically transmit your visit summary. You may also decide not to share this information. The choice is yours.

Your visit summary will provide details of your visit, instructions received from the clinician, including medication instructions or lab orders and any additional information you need if your condition doesn't improve. You will also receive a link to a visit survey. We encourage you to complete this brief survey, so we can improve the service for you and others.

All of our providers go through specialized telehealth training in communication, diagnosis and treatment over the phone and online video, while adhering to strict clinical protocols

1. Provide immediate access to board certified medical providers for patients Suffering from common and easily diagnosable medical problems as discussed above. These patients will otherwise end up in ER or urgent care. 2. The average cost of ER visit is above $400.00, Urgent care center is $200.00 and Doctor’s office is $120.00. The cost at FiveMedicine.com is $49.99.. 3. These patients with relatively minor conditions will otherwise cause busy emergency rooms adding to cost of healthcare system and diverting attention of ER staff away from more critical patients 4. Many of these so called minor conditions if not treated in timely manner, may turn into more complicated problems
